Notre Dame School is an inclusive school where “every person belongs” and we “give equality of opportunity to all our students”. We provide support to students with a wide range of additional needs, promoting positive self-esteem, planning individualised curriculum pathways, supporting all transitions and working with parents/carers, students and external agencies to ensure students’ learning experiences are extended through partnership. We have also been awarded the Inclusion Kite Mark.
Our current postholder will be leaving us at the end of this academic year to relocate, consequently we are seeking a committed and aspirational teacher to join us to lead our SEND team from September 2020.
You will have a passion for leading and managing all aspects of inclusion and interventions for students with additional educational needs. You will be an excellent practitioner who has high standards and is committed to raising standards for all students. You will be able to demonstrate strong leadership and organisational skills. We welcome applications from experienced and qualified SENDCOs, or from teachers who are currently working towards this qualification. It will be advantageous for candidates to be qualified as a Special Assessor, however, the successful candidate, will be provided with CPD to enable them to successfully complete this qualification within the first year of appointment if they are not yet a qualified assessor. For experienced applicants, there may be opportunity to undertake additional paid senior responsibilities. This can be discussed at interview.
We expect successful candidates to show within their application, and at interview, their passion for working with young people, for maximising inclusion and opportunities for all and be able to explain how they will embrace and support the school’s ethos.
In respect of your subject specialism, candidates will be expected to demonstrate a proven record of successful exam outcomes for students at GCSE and that they are a consistently good teacher. We will try to accommodate your specialism within your teaching timetable.
We are a Roman Catholic comprehensive girls’ school with a mixed sixth form entry. We value our Catholic ethos, but you don’t need to be a Catholic to apply to work for Notre Dame. We ask that all of our staff support our ethos and Christian attitudes.
Please apply using the TES online form by the deadline date.
Deadline: 9am, Tuesday 28th April 2020
