Are you an experienced and highly motivated safeguarding professional seeking a leadership role where you can truly impact the safety and well-being of children and young people?

A unique opportunity has arisen for an innovative, creative and resilient Senior Designated Safeguarding Lead to join the team at a special school in an ethnically diverse inner-city area to work across Eko Pathways and Pathways School.

Location

Eko Pathways is based at Flanders Road, Eastham, E6 6FE.

Pathways School is based at New Road, Dagenham, RM10 9NH.

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Senior Deputy Safeguarding Lead to play a crucial role in our safeguarding team. Reporting directly to the Head Teacher and Head of School of Eko Pathways and Pathways School, you will be instrumental in upholding and enhancing our robust safeguarding culture and practices.

Key Responsibilities Will Include (across two schools):

  • Case Management: Leading on complex safeguarding concerns, including referrals, investigations and multi-agency liaison.

  • Expert Guidance: Providing authoritative advice, guidance, and support to staff on all safeguarding matters.

  • Policy & Practice: Contributing to the continuous review, development, and implementation of our safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice.

  • Training & Development: Delivering high-quality safeguarding training to staff and promoting a culture of vigilance.

  • Strategic Input: Supporting the Deputy DSL’s across both Schools in strategic planning and ensuring effective oversight of safeguarding across the organisation. Leading on Attendance and child protection across both schools.

We are Looking for Someone Who Has:

  • Extensive senior-level experience in safeguarding, ideally within a similar setting (e.g., education, social care, youth work).

  • A comprehensive understanding of current safeguarding legislation, guidance (e.g., Keeping Children Safe in Education, Working Together to Safeguard Children), and best practice.

  • Proven ability to manage complex and sensitive safeguarding cases with professionalism and integrity.

  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

  • A relevant professional qualification in social work, education, or a related field (desirable).

  • A deep-seated commitment to promoting the welfare and protection of children.
