Senior Early Years Practitioner job summary

Are you a looking to take a leading role in a Pre-School? We are looking for someone to work with our amazing staff and fantastic children in our school based Pre-School. Our Pre-School is very much a part of our school and is led by a designated Pre-School Manager as part of the schools Early Years provision.

The ideal candidate needs to be enthusiastic, flexible, caring and patient and, able to use their initiative. The candidate needs good people skills and also have a good understanding of how young children learn and their needs. They will hold (or be near to completing) a full and relevant Level 3 Childcare Certificate.

The successful candidate will be directly involved in the day to day care and learning of the children and be a key worker. They will be responsible for developing the weekly planning based on the Pre-School curriculum, preparing & organising the day to day activities and resources and leading, working and collaborating effectively with other staff in directed activities and free-flow activities inside and outside.

They will support the Manager in devising and implementing rotas and timetables and will contribute to and support the assessment of children’s learning and the collation of records

The post is Monday to Friday, term time only, 35 hrs per week.

This post could be extended in the future to include breakfast and after school club. This may operate on a rota basis and the pay and times of work adjusted accordingly.

Set in a spacious and attractive grounds with a spacious Pre-School setting, we are a friendly and well-resourced school that has recently federated with our neighbouring Junior school and both are part of the St Thomas Catholic Academy Trust.
