Senior Finance Officer job summary

PolyMAT is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Finance Officer to join our central finance team. This is a pivotal role supporting financial operations across our schools, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the purchase and sales ledger processes
  • Conduct weekly bank reconciliations and BACS payment runs
  • Prepare and submit VAT126 claims
  • Support month-end and year-end financial reporting
  • Manage monthly recharges and journal entries
  • Ensure accurate coding and budget alignment
  • Line manage Finance Assistants, fostering development and consistency
  • Drive process improvements and uphold financial integrity
  • Provide business continuity support during team absences

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experienced in financial operations within an educational or public sector setting
  • Skilled in ledger management, reconciliations, and VAT processes
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities
  • Committed to continuous improvement and professional development
