Senior Finance Officer job summary
PolyMAT is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Finance Officer to join our central finance team. This is a pivotal role supporting financial operations across our schools, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the purchase and sales ledger processes
- Conduct weekly bank reconciliations and BACS payment runs
- Prepare and submit VAT126 claims
- Support month-end and year-end financial reporting
- Manage monthly recharges and journal entries
- Ensure accurate coding and budget alignment
- Line manage Finance Assistants, fostering development and consistency
- Drive process improvements and uphold financial integrity
- Provide business continuity support during team absences
Ideal Candidate:
- Experienced in financial operations within an educational or public sector setting
- Skilled in ledger management, reconciliations, and VAT processes
- Strong leadership and communication abilities
- Committed to continuous improvement and professional development
