Are you a passionate and experienced HR professional ready to make a meaningful impact in education? We are seeking a Senior Human Resources Advisor to join our dynamic team and play a key role in shaping the future of our school community.

Reporting directly to the Headteacher, you will lead on all aspects of recruitment, resourcing, and staff development. You’ll manage operational HR activities, provide expert advice to line managers, and ensure our HR practices align with safeguarding and educational excellence.

Icknield High School is a state funded secondary academy school with 1450 students. It has an Ofsted rating of ‘good’ – February 2024. It caters for students aged between 11 and 16 in Luton, Bedfordshire. At Icknield High School everything we do is underpinned by our overriding philosophy of ‘Raising the Achievement of All’. We believe that every student, regardless of background, should be afforded the same opportunities to be successful and that nothing should hold a child back from pursuing their talents and passions. We have consistently high expectations of our students and encourage excellence in all aspects of school life. In 2024, the school achieved a progress 8 score of +0.55 with 60% of students achieving a grade 5 and above in Maths and English. The 2024 outcomes rank the school in the top 10% in the country for GCSE outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the full recruitment lifecycle, ensuring compliance with Safer Recruitment and KCSIE guidelines.

Provide strategic HR advice and support to school leaders and staff.

Oversee employee relations, including investigations, grievances, and performance management.

Drive workforce development initiatives aligned with the School Development Plan.

Manage HR systems, records, and the Single Central Record (SCR).

Collaborate with Occupational Health and external HR services as needed.

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience in a senior HR advisory role, ideally within education or the public sector.

Strong knowledge of employment law, safeguarding, and HR best practices.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to lead projects, manage change, and influence at all levels.

A commitment to upholding the values and ethos of our school.
