What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a colleague who has:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a recognised SENCO qualification.
  • Proven experience in SEN within a secondary school setting.
  • Evidence of successful teaching and pastoral experience.
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and forming strong partnerships with external stakeholders like CAMHS and Educational Psychology.
  • The ability to analyse pupil data to set challenging targets and evaluate performance.

St Hild’s Church of England School is seeking a Senior Lead for Inclusion and Additional Educational Needs to join our leadership team. This is a pivotal role designed to ensure the highest possible educational outcomes for learners in Key Stages 3 and 4 who face significant challenges. You will act as the school’s statutory SENCO, strategically developing an ambitious, integrated curriculum that meets the needs of all pupils—particularly those with SEND and EAL.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Contribute to the formulation of school aims and objectives as a member of the Leadership Group.
  • Lead the development of a whole-school approach to inclusion, coordinating multi-agency support to ensure provision matches individual needs.
  • Enhance the practice of others through coaching and professional development, ensuring teaching methods are adapted for all learners.
  • Lead the KS2 to KS3 transition process to ensure a seamless transfer of student information.
  • Line manage a significant team of learning support and inclusion staff, fostering a collaborative professional culture.
