Senior Science Technician job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning across the school and managing the practical provision in all three science disciplines. You will lead the preparation and maintenance of equipment and materials for practical lessons, ensure that all experiments are carried out safely and ensuring the safe storage of chemicals and materials. You will also provide technical expertise to both staff and students.
As the Senior Science Technician, you will manage the team of Technicians and work with the Curriculum Manager of the Science Department.
The department is supported by two technicians who work alongside teaching staff to ensure a stimulating practical curriculum which inspires our students. A key part of our department vision is to increase engagement in Science through regular and engaging practical work.
The successful candidate will have good subject knowledge and a passion for Science. You will have a strong understanding of the Health and Safety requirements, excellent IT and communication skills and have the ability to manage your time effectively.
Sir Harry Smith Community College is an 11-18 Academy with over 1,000 students on roll, proud of its traditional values and innovative approaches to Teaching and Learning and its standards of discipline and respect. The College serves the market town of Whittlesey, seven miles outside of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire.
