Senior Support Assistant - Cressex job summary
We are currently recruiting a full time SSA to join the team on a temporary basis whilst we recruit a Class Teacher.
Our Rainbow department host children with severe and complex learning needs (including complex autism) Our curriculum and SCERTS based ethos support our children to develop their social and emotional understanding, increase their independence with their communication and regulation skills and engage in a purposeful and motivating learning. Chiltern Wood follows a therapeutic approach and is well-supported by occupational and speech and language therapists who work on-site.
The role of SSA will work closely with the supporting Class Teacher. The SSA will assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the class teacher, line manager and other school staff. AS SSA you will also support and lead the class and team whilst the teacher has set preparation time during the week. This will be for a minimum of one morning or afternoon session.
You will be well supported by experienced and welcoming staff within a well-run, hard-working school who put the wellbeing of pupils and staff at the forefront. We pride ourselves on building positive relationships with our pupils, their families and supporting professionals to enable communication, physical, social and emotional development for each individual.

Previous experience is not essential as full training will be provided, however experience of a play-based environment would be beneficial.
