Senior Teaching Assistant – Inclusion, Pastoral, Wellbeing & Sustainability job summary

The Role Includes:

Supporting pupils with SEND, including autism, PDA, sensory processing needs, and non-verbal communication.

Using inclusive communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, visual supports, and trauma-informed strategies.

Delivering ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) interventions to promote emotional health and resilience.

Leading Forest School/Wellbeing in the Woods sessions to foster confidence, calm, and connection with nature.

Supporting children in alternative provision within the school, using creative approaches to meet their individual n eeds.

Leading the school’s work on Eco-Schools, sustainability, and caring for God’s creation, involving pupils in real-world environmental learning.

Collaborating with teachers, the SENCO, and safeguarding team to provide holistic, child-centred support.

One afternoon per term will be protected for planning, preparation, and administrative tasks related to wellbeing, SEND support, and eco initiatives.


We Are Looking For Someone Who:

Has strong experience supporting children with SEND, especially autism and communication needs.

Is confident in using or learning alternative communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, or visual schedules.

Is ELSA trained, or willing to undertake the training.

Has experience or interest in Forest Schools (willing to undertake the training) or outdoor learning and wellbeing.

Has a strong interest in, or experience with, eco-education and leading sustainability projects in a school setting.

Brings a calm, nurturing, and empathetic approach, with strong emotional literacy and behaviour support skills.

Is enthusiastic about working in a Catholic school environment, supporting our mission and Gospel values.
