What skills and experience we're looking for
Main purpose of the post
- Together with the Headteacher, ensure a high standard of provision for pupils
- To manage the performance of identified staff
- To lead, manage and develop the curriculum across the school
- To be an excellent classroom practitioner
- Have an impact on educational progress beyond their assigned pupils
- Actively participate in whole school self-evaluation and school improvement planning
- To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school
In addition, carrying out the duties of a class teacher as outlined in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions, the senior teacher will be expected to carry out the following where appropriate:
Leadership and management role
- Be a member of the school leadership team (SLT) and attend meetings
- Contribute to the vision and ethos of the school
- Liaise with colleagues to contribute, implement and evaluate the success of the School Improvement Plan
- To lead on the Christian Distinctiveness in the school
- To be an effective role model in terms of teaching, behaviour management and classroom management
- Support the Headteacher in monitoring and reviewing the curricular provision in the school in terms of:
- breadth and balance ensuring that the schools’ curriculum is being followed
- review pupil progress through the analysis of data ensuring information is used for planning and target setting
