Site Agent job summary

Site Agent - 16 hours per week, 50 weeks per year. Term time and INSET days are mandatory.

Fixed Hours: 7:00am - 8.15pm Monday - Friday 6.25hrs

Flexible Hours: The remaining 9.75hrs per week can be flexible or set hours subject to negotiation with the successful candidate.

Level 3A - SCP 5-7 Depending on experience

This is a varied and hands-on role involving:

  • Site security
  • General maintenance and repairs
  • Porterage duties
  • H&S compliance

You will play a key part in ensuring the school buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard, ensuring compliance.

This role would be ideal for someone who is proactive, flexible, conscientious, approachable, possesses competent ‘handyperson’ practical and maintenance skills, takes pride in their work and enjoys working as part of a team.

You will play a vital role in ensuring security of our school site, that the building and grounds are maintained in a safe, clean and secure condition as well as co-ordinating and undertaking tasks as may be necessary for effective site management, while ensuring that regulations are followed and adhered to throughout.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills; knowledge of and the ability to undertake various maintenance and repair works, be pro-active and able to demonstrate the ability to work under their own initiative. Previous experience of working in a school environment would be advantageous but not necessarily essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the School Business Manager with day-to-day site operations including a daily site check
  • Managing, monitoring and maintaining the school buildings, grounds and equipment.
  • Keeping compliance records up to date
  • Assisting the School Business Manager with the management of contractors
  • Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure the site is secure and safe at all times.
  • Provide porterage services as required.
  • Be available for evening and occasional weekend lettings (overtime payable).
  • Maintain flexibility in working hours, especially during school holidays and for absence cover.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Professional attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently
  • Willingness to undergo child protection screening, including DBS and reference checks
  • Fluent spoken English for effective communication in a public-facing role

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a school or similar environment (training will be provided if needed)
