Site Lettings Assistant job summary
Reporting to the Site Manager, the Site Lettings Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the school site during lettings periods. This includes opening and closing the site, preparing facilities, supporting lettings users, and responding appropriately to any health and safety matters that arise.
The role requires a practical, proactive approach, strong personal responsibility, and the ability to work independently while maintaining excellent professional standards at all times
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key holder, opening and closing the school for lettings.
- Ensure the security of the site, including locking classrooms and restricted areas.
- Set up and clear away furniture and equipment to support lettings and examination use.
- Undertake cleaning of lettings areas where required.
- Carry out minor maintenance and manual site duties during lettings periods.
- Conduct basic site inspections and report defects or hazards in line with procedures.
- Deal with health and safety matters and incidents during lettings.
- Provide clear communication and practical on-site support to external users.
- Support the wider site team with practical tasks as reasonably required
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in a facilities, caretaking or operational environment.
- Has knowledge of health and safety requirements relevant to premises use.
- Is confident working in a customer-facing role with a wide range of users.
- Is reliable, trustworthy and able to take initiative.
- Can work independently and as part of a team.
- Is flexible and proactive, with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Is committed to safeguarding, confidentiality and professional standards at all times
A First Aid qualification is desirable but not essential.

River Academy is a purpose-built secondary school serving the growing need for school places in the Reading area. Located on Richfield Avenue, the site includes specialist teaching facilities across the curriculum, including a hall, activity studio, learning resource centre, drama studio and sports studio.
