Site Maintenance Operative job summary

Here at St Barnabas Multi Academy Trust we are seeking a reliable, proactive, and hands-on Site Maintenance Operative to support the day-to-day maintenance, security, and operational needs of several school sites across our Multi Academy Trust. We have 14 individual schools across our Estate and are looking for someone to support in the maintenance and care of these premises.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a growing estates team, working across a diverse range of educational environments. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring that our school buildings and grounds are safe, well-maintained, and conducive to learning. The role is 37 hours per week (flexibility required), working all year round with enhanced holiday entitlement. Your base school will be in Bodmin but you will travel to other sites across the trust to complete work. Key responsibilities:
Carrying out routine maintenance and repairs across multiple school sites
Supporting site security, including opening and locking premises
Health & safety checks and statutory compliance tasks
Setting up rooms for events and school activities
Working flexibly across sites, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance
What We’re Looking For:
Practical experience in a maintenance or facilities role
A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across sites (mileage paid)
A strong understanding of site safety and maintenance requirements
A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Flexibility and reliability – key in a multi-site operational role
Relevant qualifications (e.g. manual handling, health & safety, basic trades skills) are desirable but not essential – training will be provided for the right candidate.
