Site Manager Job Description

Delta Primary School is an outstanding Primary school in Edmonton and are recruiting a Site Manager to join our staff team, who will be responsible for the security, safety and maintenance of the school building and grounds.

Job Purpose

The Post Holder is required to carry out, under the reasonable direction of the Executive Headteacher and Head of School the appropriate duties and responsibilities as specified in this Job Description which are general caretaking and Site Management.

To “identify and remedy” site specific issues within the qualifications, skills and competence level of the postholder.

To prepare the site for use each day e.g. opening and routine safety and maintenance checks.

To maintain site security e.g. locking and alarm procedures.

To carry out tasks essential to keep the site safe, well maintained and compliant with legislative requirements.

It is the post holder’s duty to promote mutual understanding and teamwork in order to successfully deliver a safe and aesthetically pleasing school site.

Duties and Responsibilities Specific to the Post.

To act as keyholder as first point of contact for access to school premises out of hours.

To carry out minor repairs e.g. securing broken windows, changing light bulbs, lighting tubes and unblocking sinks and drains and secure timely support for any faults requiring specialist help e.g. electrical contractor.

To carry out security checks to the buildings and grounds.

To carry out daily routine checks ensuring lighting, heating, hot water, toilets and drainage are working adequately at the appropriate times.

To make sure the premises are clean and that rubbish is collected and taken away, and any graffiti is removed. Includes cleaning up when children are ill or have accidents.

To maintain the grounds and remove litter. Includes salting and gritting and clearance of snow in adverse weather conditions.

To be responsible for ordering supplies and related budgets.

To be responsible for the security of the buildings and grounds e.g. monitoring of surveillance equipment and intruder alarms. Includes accepting deliveries and checking off receipt of goods.

To ensure the safe storage of equipment and supplies and the keeping of appropriate records.

To be responsible for the planning of maintenance of plant and equipment e.g. Portable Appliance Testing, air conditioning units, annual fire/lighting tests etc.

Arranging furniture and preparing rooms for meetings and activities and clearing away afterwards.

To ensure all premises/site policies and risk assessments are updated and reviewed at least annually. To assist in the production of policies or Risk Assessments.

To carry out daily site checks and any maintenance tasks that arise

To manage contractors on site

To manage contractors’ due diligence paperwork in line with CDM regulations.

To prioritise and remedy site maintenance issues identified by staff on a daily basis.

To consult with others and plan for the acquisition of adequate resources e.g. grit.

Take part in a range of professional development training, and to disseminate what has been learned in order to increase staff knowledge of site specific issues.

To check on the quality of work of people employed to keep the site to a specified standard e.g. cleaners, ground maintenance contractors etc.

Cleaning duties as and when required.

Porterage.

Routine grounds maintenance.

To work flexibly around the requirements of the school e.g. evenings, weekends or bank holidays.

To manage lettings including opening and locking out of hours.

Accountability

Comply with and where applicable carry out school Risk Assessments, guidelines, policies and plans.

The Postholder is responsible day to day to the Executive Headteacher and Head of School.
