£39,513.00 - £43,693.00 Annually (Actual) Grade 8, 40 hours per week, all year round. Overtime of £4,805.50 in addition to salary to reflect the additional 3 hours per week. A split shift may be required.

Site Manager job summary

The Site Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all matters relating to the continuous operation, maintenance and cleanliness of the buildings, grounds and equipment are proactively managed in such a way that ensures a high-quality site service is provided at all times thus ensuring the safeguarding, health, safety and general well-being of all those accessing the site.

As the school’s Designated Health & Safety Officer, you will take a proactive role in ensuring our site remains compliant, safe, and well-managed. This includes:

  • Leading on statutory compliance checks and maintaining accurate records
  • Conducting and reviewing risk assessments across the site
  • Ensuring fire safety protocols and emergency procedures are up to date and practiced
  • Liaising with external contractors and inspectors to meet legal standards
  • Advising staff on safe working practices and supporting a culture of safety throughout the school
  • Attendance at regular trust-wide compliance meetings

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Opening and closing the school premises daily, as required
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs
  • Managing site cleanliness and liaising with cleaning staff
  • Overseeing contractors and ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard
  • Conducting regular health and safety checks, including fire safety, water hygiene, and risk assessments
  • Maintaining accurate records to ensure compliance with statutory requirements
  • Supporting the setup of school events and activities, including lettings
  • Responding to emergencies and being a keyholder for out-of-hours callout
  • Line management of the site assistant
  • Supporting the school and the wider Trust with its sustainability strategy, particularly through the use of Energy Sparks

The successful candidate will be:

  • Flexible and sensitive to the needs of a wide range of users with complex and varied needs.
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of Legislation and Regulations relating to all aspects of site management e.g. to fire, health and safety, Legionella, security, COSHH and Safeguarding.
  • Competent at basic building repairs, maintenance and grounds maintenance and able to effectively delegate and monitor work of others.
  • IT literate, able to use computer-based packages to track compliance and converse with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Enthusiastic and pro-active, keen to be involved and to provide our students with a learning environment in which they can take pride.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience in customer service.
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably within a school or college setting.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, procurement frameworks.
  • A Health and Safety qualification (desirable).
  • Line management experience.
  • The ability to develop positive and caring relationships with children.
  • A high level of professionalism, with respect for others, and a positive attitude towards the day to day workload.
  • A commitment to their own personal development.
