Site Manager job summary

To ensure the security of the premises, daily locking and unlocking, ensuring fences and borders are secure, intruder and fire alarms are maintained and serviced as per recommended guidelines.

To coordinate the site team to ensure the site has cover during the required hours, ensure the team has the correct skills and resources to complete relevant tasks.

To direct, motivate and manage staff and to have a direct hands-on involvement as well as a managerial role, liaising with the Business Manager on the development of staff and the completion of staff appraisals.

To manage and monitor the site activities and physical progress of work for site safety, in line with quality and environmental responsibilities.

To ensure H&S polices are always adhered to by the whole team, ensuring training is up to date and arrange new/refresher training.

To undertake risk assessments and health & safety audits for all areas within the school, reports on findings to the Business Manager.

To ensure all external contractors follow Health & Safety procedures detailed in the contract specification and that all shortfalls are dealt with promptly.

To act as Fire Marshall and to carry out regular inspections of handheld firefighting equipment and report missing or used appliances, ensure the fire evacuation policy and lockdown policy is written and all staff are aware of the procedures.

To liaise with external contractors to obtain quotes for work required, to include builder’s specification where applicable, monitor the work of the contractors.

To move resources, equipment and furniture across the site and use safe manual handling procedures.

Ensure actions arising from Health and Safety Committee meetings and inspections are implemented, maintaining a health and safety culture by spotting and rectifying hazards and following correct procedures, including clearing footpaths and using salt when freezing.

To carry out forward planning and regular inspection of repairs and maintenance to all premises and plant related matters, maintain a rolling maintenance programme and keep staff informed of the correct process for reporting faults/defects.

To have an oversight of all matters associated with the school minibus.

To support and maintain a high standard of customer care and support to both lettings and the Academy staff and students.

Carry out a range of additional duties that may arise from time-to-time in accordance with the nature of the role and level of responsibility.
