Site Team Member - Caretaker
Location: Barnhill Community High School
Salary: £24,281 per annum (Scale 3, NJC 6)
Contract Type: Part -time, permanent
Working Weeks: Term time only plus 5 Inset days + 5 additional days (40 weeks per year)
Hours: 36 hours per week, hours to be discussed at interview.

The Role: The Site team member plays a vital role in supporting the Trust Estates Manager to ensure the smooth functioning, safety, and cleanliness of the school site. The role involves housekeeping, setup, logistics, security, maintenance and compliance with health and safety regulation to maintain a safe, efficient, and operational environment for all users.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Maintenance & Security:
- Under the direction of the Estates Manager, carry out a programme of planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
- Monitor contractor standards on-site and report deviations to the Estates Manager.
- Ensure the maintenance, presentation, and security of the school building and grounds.
- Open and close the premises as required for routine and non-routine activities.
- Act as a key holder, responding to emergencies such as break-ins, fire alarms, or other urgent issues.
Health and Safety Compliance:
- Perform routine health and safety checks and planned maintenance of the site.
- Keeping water testing records – recording monthly temperature checks for all taps in accordance with the Water Risk Assessment.
- Flushing and TMV temperature checks (to prevent scolding) per schedule.
- Maintain and update health and safety documentation, including COSHH records, risk assessments, permits, and method statements.
- Ensure safe handling and use of tools, equipment, and chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.
- Assist with health and safety risk assessments and recommend improvements.
General Maintenance & Repairs:
- Carry out day-to-day remedial repairs using both powered and manual tools.
- Undertake general repairs such as basic plumbing, carpentry, or changing light bulbs.
- Maintain the appearance of external areas, including signage, pathways, and car parks
