What skills and experience we're looking for

Astor Secondary School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Social Science Teacher to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and challenge students in subjects such as Sociology, Psychology, and Criminology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that foster critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Assess, track, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and innovative teaching strategies.
  • Provide support and guidance to students, promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Participate in departmental and whole-school initiatives to enhance learning.

Essential Requirements:

  • A relevant degree in Social Sciences or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching Social Science subjects at KS4 and KS5.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and student success.

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching a range of Social Science disciplines.
  • A passion for integrating contemporary social issues into the curriculum.
  • Ability to contribute to extracurricular activities related to Social Sciences.
