Sous Chef job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sous Chef to support the delivery of nutritious, high-quality meals within our SEN secondary school. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a key role in planning, preparing and serving food that meets a wide range of dietary, medical and sensory needs, helping to create a safe, inclusive and positive mealtime experience for all students.

You will assist with menu development, food preparation and presentation, stock control and maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene and health and safety. This role requires a calm, flexible and caring approach, with an understanding of the importance of routine and consistency for young people with additional needs.

The ideal candidate will contribute to the success of the school by delivering a first-class service in providing hot meals to students and staff that is nutritionally balanced and meets all religious and dietary requirements. It is essential that the post holder is able to work as part of a team and get along with a wide range of stakeholders.

This is a term-time only role, working Monday to Friday, 7.30am-2.30pm, offering an excellent work-life balance within a supportive educational environment.
