To assist the subject lead to ensure that the curricular area provides a range of teaching which complements the Academy’s strategic objectives and helps to improve students’ communication skills, particularly oral skills, developing their confidence in speaking Spanish.
To contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the Academy.
To support the subject teacher in the creation of appropriate resources for lessons.
To provide structured 1-to-1 support to students in order to develop their language skills.
To help students to prepare for the A-level Spanish speaking assessments.
To work as a support teacher to help students to prepare for the other external elements of language qualifications.
To bring the culture of the target language into the classroom by keeping up to date on current affairs and cultural events.
To develop students’ knowledge of a different society and culture.
To provide language teaching within a cultural context by establishing a link with the target language speaking countries.
To assist with cultural activities within the Academy.
To occasionally assist the Faculty with administrative tasks.
To support cross-curricular work within the Faculty and with other faculties as required.
To support the development of resources at the direction of the Head of Department or Faculty.
To assist in the production of resources in line with the current requirements of the curriculum.
To promote the general progress and wellbeing of individual students.
To alert the appropriate staff problems experienced by students and to make recommendations as to how these may be resolved.
To communicate as appropriate, with parents of students and with persons or bodies outside the Academy concerned with the welfare of individual students, after consultation with the appropriate staff.
To undertake a designated programme of teaching.
To become familiar with the IGCSE and A-Level specifications in order to help students prepare effectively for examinations.
To support Year 12 students with their individual research projects.
To ensure a high-quality learning experience for students which meets internal and external quality standards.
To prepare and update subject materials following guidance from the classroom teacher.
To take and follow guidance from the classroom teacher on the best methods for stimulating confidence and communication.
To differentiate methods and resources to suit the needs of all students.
To be fully aware of the requirements of internal and external exams for which the students are being prepared.
To ensure the effective deployment of classroom support by being fully prepared for lessons, and by discussing expectations with classroom teachers in advance of lessons.
To work as a member of a designated team and to contribute positively to effective working relations within the Academy.
To help implement Academy quality procedures and to adherence to those.
To complete the relevant documentation for the class teacher to assist in the tracking of students.
To track students’ progress as guided by the class teacher and use information to inform teaching and learning.
Participate in training and development activities and programmes as required.
Appreciate and support the role of other professionals and establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies and professionals.
