About this role

Job Purpose

To work with teachers as part of a professional team to support teaching and learning for SEN pupils. Providing specialist assistance to pupils who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning, such as those with moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and/or behavioural, social, communication, sensory or physical disabilities.

Key Duties /Responsibilities

  • Deliver speech and language interventions under the guidance of the Speech and Language Therapist and school leaders.
  • Support the implementation of individual communication plans and programmes for pupils with speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Prepare and adapt resources to meet pupils’ individual needs during communication sessions and/or interventions.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress against communication targets, reporting concerns and successes to the line manager.
  • Deliver or assist staff training and promote effective communication strategies across the school.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, teachers, and families to ensure consistency in supporting pupils’ communication development.
  • Encourage and model inclusive communication techniques to support pupils’ social and emotional development.
