Horton Lodge Special School is a vibrant and nurturing community where every pupil thrives. This wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated and enthusiastic staff. We are excited to offer an opportunity for a committed Teaching Assistant to join our team from September 2025.
Our school supports pupils aged 2–11 with severe or profound learning difficulties, many of whom have physical disabilities or autism with communication needs. This role provides the chance to make a real difference.
This fixed-term position until July 2026 has the potential to become a long-term role.
About You
The successful candidate will:
- Have an approachable manner and excellent communication skills
- Be able to build strong relationships with children and adults
- Demonstrate understanding of working with children with disabilities (or be willing to learn)
- Have a flexible approach to work
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a supportive team

Horton Lodge Community Primary School is a maintained special school for children aged 2-11 years with physical disabilities, associated learning difficulties and a range of complex needs including communication, sensory, and health. Horton Lodge is a small and friendly school with incredibly passionate staff who are constantly striving for the very best for our pupils.
We are offering the opportunity to work in our innovative school in a beautiful setting with wonderful pupils who are happy and enthusiastic about learning. We have a skilled and highly dedicated staff team and a very supportive Governing Body. Appropriate training and support will be offered to the successful candidate to ensure they are successful in their duties.
