SPECIALIST TEACHING ASSISTANT (3) - HILLRISE PROVISION
Term Time only, permanent contract
32.5 hours per week
Monday - Friday 8.45am -3.45pm

Hillborough Junior School is seeking to employ a highly skilled, enthusiastic and forward thinking Specialist Teaching Assistant for Behaviour to join our outstanding Hillrise Provision team.
Hillrise Provision has successfully supported pupils with challenging behaviour for 16 years, offering individually tailored support to pupils referred from 13 Primary and Nursery schools from the South Area Partnership in Luton.
Hillrise seeks to support pupils to integrate into school life as much as is appropriate for each individual. This may be via outreach support at their roll school. For some pupils, they spend part of their week attending the Provision and the rest of the time attending their mainstream roll school.
Provision staff, resources and dedicated teaching space enable a bespoke and flexible learning experience for the pupils. There is a strong focus on success and achievement academically and socially in order for each individual to move back towards fully effective education. Identifying the drivers for their behaviour and seeking to meet their needs are a critical element of the role.
Positive handling of pupils displaying challenging behaviour in order to maintain the safety of everyone in school is key to the role, appropriate training will be provided.
What do we require?
- NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience
You to have the ability to build good working relationships.
You need to be self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic.
Experience of working within a similar environment.
Good Numeracy and Literacy skills.
Someone with understanding of the breadth of the Primary curriculum.
Someone who can maximise each pupil’s engagement, learning and enjoyment of school.
You will support pupils in class, in small groups and working one to one.
Ability to work indoors and outside, including on regular trips out of school.
Professional conduct dealing with children and families who have been through challenge
- Thrive in a busy environment and enjoy new challenges
Ability to drive and have a car would be advantageous but not essential.
