Specialist Teaching Assistant job summary

This is a therapeutic provision for pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. The role will be to work as part of a team re-engaging our pupils back in to learning and helping them to manage their behaviour in a way which allows them to better access the school curriculum and supports their successful return to a new school.

Main Duties:

  • To assist teachers with all aspects of their work within the provision
  • To contribute to physical, social, emotional and intellectual well being of the pupils
  • To work with groups or individuals within the unit or within other areas of the Alternative Provision Academy if the need arises
  • To supervise breakfast club and support pupils during break and lunch times
  • To work in collaboration with teaching staff of the Alternative Provision Academy, setting and reviewing pupils’ targets, planning progression and differentiation of work, and supporting pupils to achieve progress and success.
  • To administer medication as required (training will be provided)
