What skills and experience we're looking for

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School wishes to appoint an experienced teaching assistant to join a hardworking, motivated and enthusiastic team. The ideal candidate will be positive and proactive with the ability to inspire children to learn and have expertise to support pupils with additional needs. They must be an excellent communicator and have the ability to build supportive relationships whilst leading a team of established teaching assistants.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold NVQ L2 or have equivalent experience working within an educational environment

  • Be confident working with children across all Primary phases particularly those with additional educational needs

  • Show a strong commitment to the distinctive Catholic ethos and values of our school

  • Have high expectations of children’s attainment, progress and behaviour with an understanding of reasonable adjustments for pupils with additional needs

  • Has previous successful TA experience

  • Demonstrate excellent Numeracy and Literacy skills

  • Be able to enhance existing provision to support learning and participation

  • Develop and maintain effective and supportive relationships with children, their parents and those engaged with them

  • Demonstrate excellent behaviour management and communication skills to support pupils with different needs and abilities

  • Be committed to promoting self-esteem in our children

  • Enjoy working as part of a team Hardworking, dedicated supportive colleagues
