Please note, while this role is posted under Outwood Academy Normanby, it will be based at our Alternative Provision centre which is next to the school.
Working Pattern:Monday to Friday, Term Time only + 5 days
Contract: Temporary for 2025/26 academic year.
About the role:
We are looking for an outstanding individual who is enthusiastic, dynamic and inspirational to join our team as a Specialist Teaching Assistant.
As a Specialist Teaching Assistant at Outwood Alternative Provision Eston you will be required to work closely with Teachers and Hub Coordinators and will have the energy and creativity to develop and inspire students learning, life skills and personalised outcomes.
A key focus will be to support student provision and increase students' ability to access all areas of the curriculum and school life. As part of the role you will possess the skills to embed and develop literacy (especially reading) and numeracy skills, working proactively with other members of the team to improve attainment, by adopting a personalised approach towards planning and delivery of a bespoke curriculum. The successful candidate will work to support students in all necessary provisions.
A key focus will be to increase students' ability to access all areas of the curriculum. Examples of the work the successful candidate will be expected to deliver are to:
- Take responsibility for a caseload of students inside and outside of the classroom during structured or unstructured time.
- Assess the needs of students and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support students’ educational progress and attainment and prepare them for adulthood.
- Deliver intervention programs to individuals and small groups, preparing relevant and appropriate learning experiences in conjunction with teaching staff.
- Track and monitor student life skill targets and/or EHCP outcomes, discussing progress with parents and agreeing new targets/EHCP outcomes at Interim Reviews
- Deliver pre-planned lessons to small classes as required

Outwood Alternative Provision Eston is a unique centre that caters for students from Outwood Academies in the Tees Valley Area who require additional support due to behavioural, social, emotional, or mental health challenges.
