St John’s Catholic Specialist School is a school for young people up to 19 years with special educational needs. We are looking for a highly specialised Speech & Language Therapist’s to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team of dedicated professionals who are committed to providing the very best life chances for our students.

This role includes:

  • Plan and deliver speech and language therapy sessions for your caseload.
  • Work collaboratively with other therapists, teachers, learning support assistants and carestaff
  • Monitor and report on pupils’ progress
  • Provide recommendations and guidance to parents/ carers, colleagues in school and other professionals
  • Maintain case records in line with school policy and RCSLT guidelines
  • Keep up to date with relevant clinical research
  • Participate as required in the supervision and training of SaLT students
  • Participate fully in whole school training sessions and meetings
  • Attend and contribute annual reviews as directed
  • Play a full part in the life of the school community, supporting the ethos, rules and regulations

St John’s is a specialist residential and day school for students up to 19 years old with a range of special needs including hearing impairment, autism, language impairments and learning difficulties. We have a strong focus on developing spoken and written communication skills and signing is not used to deliver the curriculum.

The school prioritises mental health and wellbeing and we have been particularly successful reintegrating pupils who have been out of education for some time.
