Sports Centre Assistant job summary

Building on the success of our partner sites, we are delighted to introduce our new Sports Centre, Club Ryecroft, located within Laurus Ryecroft.
Club Ryecroft will have a variety of sporting facilities available to hire to local community groups and sporting clubs. This development leads to a fantastic opportunity for driven and passionate Sports Centre Assistants to become a part of our brand new team. In this role, the ideal candidate will assist in the smooth running of the sports centre facilities.
The working hours for this position are below, please specify within your application which position you are applying for:
- 37 hours per week - Midweek evenings 3.30-10.30pm x 4 Saturday 8am-5pm
- 10 hours per week - Saturday and Sunday 8am -1pm
Job Purpose (For further details on the role, please find the Job Description below)
- To support the daily interaction with community users along with the day-to-day cleaning, setting up and supervision of gym and sports facilities.
- To represent the Trust/School during community lettings periods.
Key Skills & Experience
- Sound educational background including GCSE’s in Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent
- Must be able to move equipment correctly. (e.g. badminton posts, table tennis tables)
- Prior experience in a similar role

Laurus Ryecroft is an oversubscribed secondary school for 11 to 18-year-old students in Tameside. The school is run by the Laurus Trust and replicates the outstanding education offered by the Trust’s founder school, Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS), based in Stockport. CHHS is a hugely oversubscribed school and has been named as one of the UK’s top-performing schools in The Sunday Times, ranking as the 15th non-denominational comprehensive school in Manchester and the North West in the annual Parent Power Survey for 2022.
Laurus Ryecroft is a non-selective, non-denominational free school. It opened in September 2018, initially providing 150 Year 7 places in five forms with 30 students in each. A further seven Year 7 forms will be added each academic year until the school is at full capacity. In addition to this the school will have a sixth form of 300 students.
