Sports Coach job summary

We love PE and Sport at Bidston Avenue Primary School. We are delighted to hold a number of Gold and Platinum sports awards and many of our children excel and compete in Wirral-wide, regional and national competitions.

We are looking to improve the quality of our sports offer even further, so we are searching for a reliable, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and friendly sports coach. We wish the suitable person to support and deliver the highest quality sport and physical education to our children during curriculum time and at other key points during the school day. Additionally, the successful candidate may be required to run early morning and after school clubs daily and other sporting events.

Applications are welcome from suitably qualified sports coaches (two or more primary-related coaching awards at level 2) who have proven experience of working in a primary school or similar setting.

We will provide:

*Wonderful children who have huge potential and who deserve the very best opportunities
*Supportive and hard-working colleagues and governors who care passionately about our school and the local community
*High-quality professional development and we will support you in gaining appropriate further qualifications, if needed.

Interested applicants are warmly welcomed to visit the school and these visits can be arranged through Mrs Welch in our school office.

Bidston Avenue Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. We expect all staff to share this commitment and staff in regulated activity will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Check and a barred list check.

We value equality and diversity and welcome applications from all, including those with protected characteristics under the Equality Act.

Flexible working will be considered and there may be opportunity for extra hours during the school holidays (the contract already includes all INSET Days plus two holiday weeks of work over the year - 41 weeks).

Application forms should be returned to Mr. S.G. Brady, Headteacher, at the school address or via Email (schooloffice@bidstonavenue.wirral.sch.uk)

Bidston Avenue Primary School is much larger than the average primary school. It has 460 pupils on roll with more boys than girls (55%/45%).

The school population draws mainly from two Wards. Firstly, Bidston St James is one of the most deprived parts of the country, as it scores extremely highly on deprivation factors like overcrowding, low levels of basic literacy & numeracy and few qualifications in the household.

Bidston Avenue Primary School is involved with a significant amount of partnership working, particularly with Birkenhead Park School, Bebington High Sports College, and various other schools via our blogging/computing curriculum, PE and Sport networks. We have been strategic partners of the Weatherhead Teaching School Alliance (Wallasey) and the Deep Learning Alliance (Our Lady of Pity, Greasby).

We received our third Eco-School Green Flag (Nov 2013/14, 2015/16 & 2017/18), sixth PE & School Sport Kite Marks (Platinum 2018-2021 and Gold 2015/16, 16/17 & 17/18) and we are committed to be a Net Zero school by 2030.

Pupil numbers are stable and continue to be well above 400 (currently 460).

We support many local schools with School Improvement, ICT, assessment, phonics and Singapore Maths/maths no problem. We support schools with other areas too including: increasing the expectation for Wirral children through Wirral Young Chamber Cadets programme that we have developed with Wirral Chamber of Commerce; with Computing; PE & Sport Development, including speaking at local conferences; Curriculum work, including our Mandarin programme and ‘Sister School’ work.

We have a Sister School in Taicang, China, who have visited us multiple times and vice versa.

We are working with Eureka Mersey (Eureka’s latest museum project) and this has enabled us to work with inspirational local companies (in school and off-site)
