Sports Coach job summary
Middleton Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and highly motivated Sports Coach to join our exceptional team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about inspiring children through sport, physical education and healthy lifestyles.
We are looking for someone with energy, flexibility and a commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential through high-quality sports provision. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing children's sporting skills, confidence, teamwork and enjoyment of physical activity across the school.
About the Role
As Sports Coach, you will work closely with pupils and staff to deliver an outstanding sports programme that supports our commitment to excellence in physical education and competitive sport.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Planning and delivering engaging, high-quality PE lessons across all year groups.
Supporting the development of pupils' physical skills, confidence, resilience and enjoyment of sport.
Adapting activities and learning opportunities to ensure all pupils, including those with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and other vulnerable learners, can fully participate and achieve success in PE and school sport.
Leading and organising lunchtime sports activities and clubs.
Delivering a range of after-school sports clubs that encourage participation, skill development and a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity.
Tracking and monitoring participation in PE, extracurricular clubs, fixtures and sporting events, ensuring that all pupils, particularly our most vulnerable learners, have equitable access to opportunities beyond the classroom.
Identifying barriers to participation and working proactively with staff and families to increase engagement in sport and physical activity.
Preparing, coaching and managing school teams for competitive fixtures and sporting events.
Accompanying pupils to inter-school competitions and sporting festivals.
Driving the school minibus to transport pupils safely to and from fixtures and events, where required.
Promoting positive attitudes towards teamwork, sportsmanship, inclusion and healthy lifestyles.
Supporting the school's wider sporting ambitions, including participation in local competitions, sporting initiatives and opportunities to achieve School Games and other recognised sporting awards.
Working collaboratively with staff to enhance the provision of PE and school sport across the curriculum and contribute to the school's commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to participate, compete and succeed.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
Has a proven track record of delivering high-quality PE teaching and/or sports coaching.
Holds relevant sports coaching qualifications and experience working with primary-aged children.
Demonstrates excellent behaviour management and organisational skills.
Has high expectations of pupils' achievement, behaviour and participation.
Is confident leading groups of children independently in lessons, clubs and competitive environments.
Is passionate about encouraging children of all abilities to enjoy and succeed in sport.
Builds positive, professional relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
Is an excellent role model who promotes the school's values through their conduct and approach.
Is willing and able to drive the school minibus (or be prepared to undertake any necessary training, where appropriate).
Is flexible, reliable and committed to contributing to the wider life of the school.
