Sports Coach job summary
34 hours 10 minutes per week
8:50am – 4:30pm (Monday – Friday) with a 50-minute unpaid lunch break
37 weeks of the year – term time only
Stanford-le-Hope Primary School wishes to appoint a reliable and enthusiastic Sports Coach to promote PE, school sport and physical activity to raise attainment. The successful candidate will have a specialist coaching qualification relevant to Primary Phase and support colleagues in the delivery of collaborative teaching and learning within and beyond the curriculum. Experience working with pupils in an education setting is essential. This position will involve:
- Planning and delivering PE lessons across Key Stage 1 and 2, including activities such as games, dance, gymnastics, athletics, and outdoor adventurous activities
- Running before and after school sports clubs and significantly increase student participation in extracurricular physical activities
- Supporting school sports events by organizing and leading sports days, intra- and inter-school competitions, and physical activity festivals
- Promoting healthy lifestyles and lifelong physical activity among pupils, including targeted programs for specific groups like poor attendees or disadvantaged children
- Establishing and maintaining community links with local sports clubs to create opportunities for students beyond school
- Managing equipment and logistics, including risk assessments, transport arrangements, parental communication, kit preparation, and inventory of PE resources
