We are seeking a proactive Student Liaison Officer to join our growing Welfare and Safeguarding Team. The ideal candidate would have direct experience of being a member of the armed forces or previous experience in the police force. They will be friendly and approachable, with excellent communication skills and a responsible attitude to promoting positive student behaviour. A sound understanding and knowledge of de-escalation techniques is essential, alongside strong people management skills, the ability to follow processes, and sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
Student Liaison Officers act as a duty officer service, patrolling the site and engaging positively with both staff and students. They provide guidance, supervision, and support, while helping to resolve conflict where needed in a calm and professional manner. The role also involves regular interaction with parents and the general public as part of maintaining a safe and welcoming school environment.
The Duke of Lancaster is a special school that supports students with ASD and SEMH conditions. Knowledge and understanding of young people with these needs would be an advantage but training will be provided.
