Location: Corby Technical School

Salary: Grade 4, Point 10, £22,460 (FTE £25,800 per annum)

Hours: Hours: 37 hours a week, 39 weeks a year

About Corby Technical School and the Role

At Corby Technical School, we believe in ‘unique learners, unlimited ambition’. Our vision is to provide high support and high challenge for every student, ensuring they leave us as the most employable students in Corby. We are proud of our inclusive culture and commitment to restorative and asset-based approaches, which underpin everything we do.

We are seeking to appoint a Student Support Officer to join our pastoral team. This is a dynamic role where no two days are the same. You will play a key part in responding to the needs of our students, supporting their social, emotional, and behavioural development, and helping them thrive in a high-expectation environment.

The role involves:

  • Providing pastoral support and guidance to students and their families, promoting wellbeing, personal development, and positive behaviour.
  • Working with school leaders and key staff to manage systems for attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and academic progress, ensuring high standards for all learners.
  • Planning, organising, and supervising activities and interventions, including reflection spaces, study sessions, events, and trips, to support engagement and success.
  • Coordinating individual support plans and interventions, liaising with teachers and external agencies to reintegrate students and address barriers to learning.
  • Monitoring and tracking student progress and conduct, ensuring compliance with school expectations and supporting positive destinations and aspirations.

We are looking for someone who is:

Personable, adaptable, and proactive, able to think on their feet and respond to changing priorities.

Committed to inclusion and passionate about helping young people develop resilience and ambition.

Skilled at communicating with students, staff, and families, and able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

This is a busy and rewarding position where you will make a real difference to the lives of our students. You don’t need prior school experience—training will be provided—but you do need a strong sense of purpose and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Contract: Term time only, 37 hours per week

Hours: 08:00-16:00 Monday to Thursday, 08:00-15:30 Friday

Join us and be part of a team that is committed to high standards, high expectations, and high support for every learner.
