About the role: Do you pride yourself on your ability to build and maintain good working relationships with young adults? Can you empathise whilst being firm but fair? The Leigh Academy have a great opportunity and are seeking to appoint a Student Support Officer who will support students across the academy with attendance, with their behaviour for learning and their emotional wellbeing.

The Student Support Officer will take on responsibilities to provide support to other pastoral staff, involving behaviour mentoring, liaising with other provisions where students are educated off site and supporting attendance and punctuality. Whilst full training will be offered when in post, our successful candidate will have some prior experience of working in a similar capacity directly with young people, offering an empathetic and restorative outlook for the benefit of the students. They will also take on responsibility for organising, providing administrative support and supervision for the Curriculum Support Centre (CSC), having a positive impact on student learning.

This would involve liaising with external agencies for example NHS trailblazers and external counsellors who provide on site support for identified students, as well as overseeing external speakers delivering assemblies and workshops.

The basis of this role is permanent, Term Time + 1 week inset, 8.00am - 4.00pm (Monday - Friday with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break). The actual salary is £18,920 (£21,775 full time equivalent).
