Student Support Worker job summary

The Student Support Worker is a key role within the academy, working with the Head of Year to ensure that students are supported with their behaviour, safety, progress and achievement, as well as providing them with appropriate information, advice and guidance.

The ideal candidate will, amongst other things, possess excellent inter-personal skills in order to forge positive working relationships with staff, parents and students as well as having excellent team working skills which will facilitate collaborative relationships with teachers and other support staff across the academy.

The role of the Student Support Worker will include:

Investigating any reported behaviour incidents, taking statements, interviewing students, and providing recommendations, as well as being involved in the resolution of incidents where appropriate and communicating the outcome of these investigations. You will also liaise and meet with parents, staff and external agencies to support students as part of any investigation

Assisting with organising events, trips and celebration assemblies throughout the year.

Overseeing and implementing the admissions process for your year group admissions as required, and administering the school detention system

Monitoring incidents of bullying, maintaining records and liaising with the Head of Year to suggest possible interventions and support students when required

Providing administrative support for the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Pastoral Support Plans.

Attending and participating in relevant meetings as required
