To be accountable for student progress and development throughout the subject area including meeting student achievement targets
To ensure high standards of teaching and learning across the subject area through continuously, developing and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning
To ensure the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students
To ensure that all academy policies and procedures are implemented and applied consistently by all staff in the subject area
To assist the Head of Faculty to effectively and efficiently manage and deploy teaching/support staff, financial and physical resources across the subject area.
To share and support the academy’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
Teaching
To undertake an appropriate programme of teaching in accordance with the duties of a standard scale teacher.
To plan and prepare courses and lessons in line with academy policy.
To contribute to the whole academy's planning activities.
To assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of students and to keep such records as are required.
To provide, or contribute to, oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students and groups of students.
To undertake a designated programme of teaching.
To ensure a high-quality learning experience for students that meets internal and external quality standards.
To prepare and update subject materials.
To ensure effective and efficient deployment of classroom support.
To use a variety of delivery methods that will stimulate learning appropriate to student needs and demands of the syllabus.
To maintain discipline in accordance with the academy's procedures and to encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homework.
To undertake assessment of students as requested by external examination bodies, subject area and academy procedures.
To mark, grade and give written/verbal and diagnostic feedback as required.
To teach students according to their educational needs, including the setting and marking of work to be carried out by the student in the academy and elsewhere.
To ensure that ICT, Literacy, Numeracy, PHSE and Work-Related Learning are reflected in the teaching/learning experience of students
Main Duties and Responsibilities - Geography EBACC Lead across the Trust
To ensure a fully aligned curriculum and assessment structure that has impact across all Orion schools
To lead HODs in continuing to align curriculum, assessments and teaching resources.
Offer support and advice to the other HODs around subject specific actions such as DIPs/data analysis/intervention plans etc.
Support in subject specific deep dives across the trust where needed
Half termly meetings with HODs to lead the workflow.
Within half termly subject meetings, lead the subject HOD team, sharing curriculum resources and the quality assurance of these – (Long term plans, progression maps, knowledge organisers, medium term plans, base lessons, assessments, intervention)
Co-ordinate, develop and /or create subject specific curriculum documents that are shared across all schools including:
LTPs, MTPs, KOs, Progression maps, Base lessons
Quality assure all curriculum documents and give feedback to those who have created them to ensure they are the best
Use the Curriculum spreadsheet to develop a renewal process of curriculum from QA and use every half term
Evaluate the work done on curriculum in your subject twice a year to feed back to Trust members
To visit schools to QA implementation of the shared curriculum
Develop preparation materials for assessments / PPEs
Ensure that results from any testing, that flags gaps across cohorts, leads to a development of the curriculum planning.
Quality assure all end of unit tests, and use of the workbook tracking on Arbor.
Creation of aligned assessments for KS3 and KS4 alongside other subject HODs
To ensure a trust wide aligned approach to standardisation and moderation for assessments
To lead all Trust wide standardisation and moderation meetings
Review Trust wide data and lead in a Trust wide response
