We seek to appoint a highly motivated colleague to join our school and become our new Subject Leader for Physical Education, leading this foundation subject and supporting our students to achieve their very best. This is an exciting opportunity for a practitioner to further develop the curriculum which exists in school and enhance the opportunities open to students across the school. The school is set within extensive playing fields for football, rugby and track & field, alongside a MUGA, sports hall, dance studio and dedicated sports classroom furnished with a suite of desktop computer. We have a rich history of competing in county sports events and offering a variety of sporting clubs, in addition to the wide range of sports offered within the curriculum. The department consists of two members of teaching staff, alongside this post and BTEC Sport is offered as an option for Years 10 and 11.
The main focus of the Subject Teacher's role is fostering the learning and progress of the pupils in their care. This involves being an effective teacher of pupils as well as of the subject. Quality of preparation, resourcing, planning, subject expertise, teaching skill, pace, challenge, proactive classroom management, effective marking and assessment, high expectations, and positive personal relationships are all central to providing the conditions within which pupils' personal skills, abilities, understanding, learning and progress can be developed.
