What skills and experience we're looking for
The Governing Body of Acland Burghley School is seeking to appoint an outstanding Subject Leader for Art from September 2023.
This is an exciting career opportunity for an outstanding classroom teacher who is ready to lead and motivate their own team. The successful candidate will articulate a compelling curriculum vision from Year 7 to Year 13, and will be ambitious to make the subject a beacon of excellence within our creative and inclusive school. They will have good understanding of how leaders support teachers in a team to implement the curriculum consistently, ensuring that the impact of provision is good for all learners, including those who are disadvantaged, and those with SEND.
What the school offers its staff
The department has 4 other strong Art teachers (including an ECT) and is supported by 2 curriculum technicians. It sits within a larger Creative Arts and Technology Faculty, which includes Dance, Drama, Music and DT. The school places emphasis on creative subjects in its curriculum design. Art is a popular choice at GCSE, A Level and L3 BTEC.
We are looking for a leader who has an interest in literacy and pedagogy. The postholder will develop excellent teaching practice in Art, and will work closely with the Head of Faculty and other middle leaders within the Faculty to develop outstanding pedagogy across the team. You may already have had experience of leading a project and evaluating its impact.
The successful candidate will have experience of teaching A Level Art successfully and will have a strong commitment to ensuring that every child achieves the highest possible academic standards. S/he will also be a highly effective, confident and articulate team player with excellent communication skills, whose reflective practice and high professional standards make impact on the performance of others.
