What skills and experience we're looking for

Trust Subject Lead for Languages (Secondary)

This is a significant opportunity for those who want to shape the future of Languages at a national level – not just through curriculum design, but by building the systems that support great teaching and improved outcomes across the trust.

As one of the largest Multi Academy Trusts in the UK and a Founding member of the National Institute of Teaching, Oasis Community Learning’s mission is to deliver exceptional education at the heart of the community. With a commitment to inclusion and social integration, we work purposefully with communities, who face the challenge of disadvantage, across the country as we aim to ensure that every young person, regardless of their starting point in life, is equipped with the knowledge and skills to have real choice and be able to flourish in their lives. Our unwavering responsibility to the communities we serve comes from our clear mission, vision and values which are evident in all areas of how we operate and are governed. And that makes us not only unique, but also a genuine place where people are respected, trusted and developed to fulfil their own potential.

The Trust Lead for Secondary Languages will champion educational excellence, working with our central education team, regional teams, and academy senior and subject leaders to improve outcomes in Languages from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5. As Trust Lead for Secondary Languages, you will shape and implement the Languages strategy across all of our secondary academies, ensuring a high-quality education that supports learners well. This role requires regional and cross-regional collaboration within the trust, where you will advance curriculum development, implement effective assessment systems, and establish subject networks and communities for Languages and for subject leaders and teachers to drive learner success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide inspirational and effective strategic leadership for Languages to fulfil the trust’s educational vision, establishing the Oasis Standard for excellent Languages education.
  • Structure and design the Oasis Languages curriculum for our secondary academies, ensuring effective transition from key stage 2 to secondary education and ensuring learners develop a deep understanding of Languages.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the Languages curriculum strategies across secondary academies, ensuring it aligns with organisational goals and educational standards.
  • Design, facilitate and deliver high-impact professional development programmes tailored to the needs of teachers and leaders.
  • Establish and lead subject networks to foster collaboration and the sharing of best practices among academy subject leaders and teaching staff across Oasis.
  • Represent the Trust in external partnerships and educational forums, staying updated with advancements and discussions in the subject community.

What the school offers its staff

Are you ready for a new challenge?

  • You will join an organisation with a powerful ethos and commitment to a model of inclusion, hope, perseverance, healthy relationships and compassion throughout all the aspects of the life and culture of each academy community. That makes it a truly rewarding and inspiring place to work.
  • You’ll be continually developed to ensure you are up to date with the most current thinking, research and best-practice in the critical areas of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment. We want you to develop personally and to grow your career with us.
  • You’ll report into the National Education Team in a trusted working partnership as well as collaboratively engaging and knowledge sharing with other leaders across and beyond Oasis.
  • You’ll enjoy a generous package in an organisation that supports difference and welcomes contribution and innovation. Delivering exceptional education will require new approaches, new strategies and new ideation.

This is a genuinely transformative role that, through effective strategic deployment, will provide our academies with a world-class educational framework from which to further enhance the quality of our education for all.

What are we looking for:

You’ll be an experienced Languages subject leader with evidence of delivering high impact in the subject area.
