Can you bring the past to life with ambition, inspiring every student to see their place in the story of the world?

Do you lead with respect, building a culture where curiosity and challenge thrive?

Are you driven by a deep sense of responsibility to ensure every learner achieves their full potential?

If so, Queen Katharine Academy could be your next chapter.

Your role:

As Subject Leader for History, you will take the lead in designing and delivering an engaging, ambitious History curriculum that reflects both the national framework and the needs of our students. You will bring the past alive through carefully planned lessons, ensuring all learners are challenged, supported and inspired to achieve highly. From crafting Schemes of Learning to monitoring progress and driving continuous improvement, you will set the standard for excellence across the subject.

You will be a visible, motivating presence within the Humanities faculty, working collaboratively with colleagues to develop teaching approaches, share best practice and build a culture of high expectations. Your leadership will ensure that every classroom is a place where students feel safe, respected and inspired to think critically about the past and its impact on the present. Alongside your teaching, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ academic and personal development, using assessment and feedback to guide them forward and remove barriers to success.

We are looking for an exceptional classroom practitioner with Qualified Teacher Status and a strong academic background in History, who has a deep understanding of the curriculum and a proven ability to deliver high-quality teaching at Key Stages 3 and 4. You will bring the skills to plan and deliver engaging lessons, track progress effectively, and adapt your practice to meet the needs of all learners. Just as importantly, you will be someone who can inspire and lead others—demonstrating ambition for the subject, respect for every individual, and responsibility for the outcomes of all students.

About us:

Queen Katharine Academy is a vibrant and inclusive community where both students and staff thrive. You will be joining a school that truly lives its values of respect, ambition and responsibility, where collaboration is encouraged and professional growth is supported at every stage.
