Subject Leader of Music job summary
As a new school within a highly aspirational and academically successful multi-academy Trust, Ada Lovelace CE High School offers comprehensive CPD, exciting development opportunities and good promotion prospects for its teachers. The school, now in its second year, is currently co-located at William Perkin CE High School (Ofsted ‘Outstanding’), and moves to its brand new permanent site in north Ealing in September 2020.
This is an exciting role for an enthusiastic Music Teacher seeking to take their first steps towards leading their own department. Ada Lovelace works collaboratively with other schools within the Trust – in particularly with our sister school, William Perkin CE High School, which has a very strong reputation for Music. There will therefore be significant opportunities for joint working and the Subject Lead will have access to the curriculum and resources already in place. You will be joining a small but ambitious and energetic staff group that seeks to deliver an outstanding curriculum, and you will be well supported by an experienced Senior Leadership Team.
The new post-holder will be an enthusiastic Musician who is a strong classroom practitioner with a commitment to achieving the highest standards both academically and in terms of musical engagement. The school is part of a Trust which places a very strong emphasis on Music and has established routines for whole school singing and for ‘wider opportunities’-style instrumental teaching (which currently forms the basis of the Music lessons in Years 7 & 8). As a member of a Church of England Trust, the school also sees Music as providing an essential strand of SMSC and we have an in house team of peripatetic staff supported by a Head of Music Specialism and music administration team who will support the Subject Lead with the wider learning offer. The ideal candidate will be ambitious to develop music at the school.
