Subject Practice Lead (Trust Wide) job summary

Core Purpose

  • To lead on the development and delivery of the Trust Subject Practice Community for your subject area.
  • To provide bespoke curriculum intent and implementation support to subject leads across the trust for your subject area where relevant and appropriate and when agreed with the Head of Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment.
  • To lead on the strategy for the Anthem aligned curriculum for your subject area. This will contribute to raising attainment across the trust.
  • To lead on standardisation and moderation of assessment for your subject area across the Trust.

Main duties and responsibilities

Subject Communities of Practice

  • Plan and facilitate half termly SCP meetings for subject Leaders across the Trust.
  • Ensure that SCPs balance strategy on implementing the research led requirements of The Anthem Way with subject specificity for your subject area.
  • Ensure that SCPs balance long term strategy on the Anthem aligned curriculum with short term quick wins for raising attainment - for example, devising and sharing model essays / resources/ quick wins etc for top grades at GCSE and A Level and outcomes in Year 6.
  • Ensure that SCPs facilitate effective subject moderation where relevant and appropriate.
  • Report on and follow up to trust wide attendance to SCP meetings.

Curriculum Intent and Implementation

  • Clearly articulate the Anthem vision and strategy for an aligned curriculum in your subject area
  • Influence the development of the aligned curriculum alongside the implementation of The Anthem Way pedagogy by sharing evidence-based best practice.
  • Develop and Lead the Subject Practice Community for your subject area and lead on the strategy for greater curriculum alignment and standardisation for your subject area.
  • Advise and support schools on curriculum design, intent, and implementation for your subject, providing training to subject leads.

General/ other

  • Contribute to the monthly trust wide Curriculum and Pedagogy journal.
  • Promote and maintain a culture of high expectations for self and others.
  • Maintain own professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training.
  • Promote collaboration within and beyond the Trust to support improvement and professional learning.

Key Information

  • You will remain in post in your current school but will receive an allowance to run half termly subject communities of practice. There may also be scope to travel to other Trust schools to provide bespoke support to other departments.
  • Weekly/ Monthly time commitment: One – two online meetings per half term. Follow up support to individual schools if required.
  • One position per subject area.
