What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking an ambitious, passionate English practitioner to join our team as Subject Progress Lead – English. This role is ideal for a teacher who is ready to influence whole‑school practice, support colleagues, and drive student progress across the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support curriculum leaders to raise attainment and enhance teaching practice.
  • Lead and manage student support strategies within English.
  • Analyse data to inform interventions and monitor progress.
  • Contribute to strategic planning for teaching and learning improvements.
  • Support professional development through coaching, CPD, and learning walks.
  • Establish high‑quality teaching standards and share best practice.
  • Produce monitoring reports and evaluate the impact of support programmes.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, SLT, external partners, and stakeholders.
  • Assist with day‑to‑day departmental operations and resource management.
  • Act as a form tutor and contribute to wider pastoral care.
