We are looking for a passionate Economics Tutor to join this high achieving department. The ideal candidate will be able to deliver inspiring lessons, bring knowledge and experience to the curriculum, and have a desire to teach beyond the specification, believing that every student can succeed.

Economics department
Economics is a large and successful department with a diverse, enthusiastic and supportive team. Collaboration is encouraged and teaching materials are shared centrally. Teachers follow a well structured and fully resourced syllabus. We aim to develop independent learning in students, provide transferable skills and enable adaptability with regard to learning and assessments.
Students frequently praise the excellent resources in the department, clarity of teacher explanations, and the support provided by teachers.

Cohort size: 240 students in year 1, 200 in year 2.

Management structure: There is a senior curriculum manager in economics, supported by a subject leader (year 2).
Exam board specification: AQA
Department facilities: Chromebooks are available in subject specialist classrooms.

How do we support you:
As a new member of staff you will receive plenty of support from your colleagues both from the department and from the wider college community. This will include:
a mentor to help you through the first year (in particular);
support from your curriculum manager and director of faculty; and
an extensive programme for all new staff to help induct you into College life as well as to develop your approach to teaching

Day to Day Expectations of a Teacher
A full time teacher will have 22.5 hours per week contact with students, split over 5 Teaching groups (15 periods ) with 5 additional periods for preparation & marking.
On a Tuesday all staff are expected to attend a briefing at 8.40am and departmental meetings / all staff staff CPD after college, finishing at 5.20pm.
Throughout the year there are a number of whole college events, (open evenings, parent evenings, Interview day, enrollment) at which attendance is required.
Common resources are shared within departments and there are regular opportunities for professional development, delivering extracurricular student clubs and wellbeing / social activities.
