What skills and experience we're looking for

The Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated M4 teacher to join our team on a part-time basis (0.8 FTE) from January 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a Y5/6 class, delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences that inspire all children to succeed and achieve good outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience in delivering high-quality teaching in a primary school setting, particularly in Y5/6.
  • A passion for fostering children's learning and personal development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons for Y5/6 that align with our broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that embodies our Christian values of Respect, Friendship, Forgiveness, and Determination.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement mixed-age planning in maths and support the consolidation of basic skills in writing.
  • Enhance outdoor learning opportunities for children and contribute to their personal development.
  • Engage with parents to support their child’s reading and overall learning journey.

  • This role will carry subject leadership responsibilities, to align with the interests and specialisms of the successful candidate alongside those of existing staff.

Crayke Primary School is a Voluntary Controlled Church of England School located just outside the market town of Easingwold, about 12 miles from York. As a smaller than average-sized primary school, we pride ourselves on maintaining a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment for our cohort of approximately 100 pupils, aged 4 to 11 years.

Our school is part of the Easingwold cluster of local primary schools, the majority of which are small, rural Church of England settings. We have established strong links with the community, including St Cuthbert's Church in the village of Crayke and we are proud to be part of the Diocese of York.
