Teacher job summary

Do you love Food? Do you get along well with other people? Then this could be the role for you!

As part of our on-going commitment to high quality teaching of Food & Nutrition, we are now seeking an additional teacher to join our highly successful and hard-working team. ECTs and talented unqualified teachers (eg qualified chefs) would be welcome to apply - we have an excellent track record of supporting professional chefs into the first years of their teaching career. Conversely, this role could suit more experienced colleagues looking for a change of school or a change in contract. We are willing to explore part time options with colleagues who may be looking for that sort of opportunity. We are flexible to secure the services of the right people.

Our Food department is one of the strongest in the school and consistently delivers exceptionally high standards in both progress and attainment terms. Students thoroughly enjoy Food Lessons at this school with good numbers continuing at GCSE and into Sixth Form. They are taught a highly practical hands-on curriculum with challenging recipes and restaurant standard skills being learned. Our hospitality and catering course is very popular and has recently innovated to include a small element of restaurant French, providing an important extra dimension to the students’ experience.

We would love to show you around our department, introduce you to our team and students and answer any questions that you may have.

The appointee will be committed to our high expectations and core values - we welcome applications from teachers irrespective of their faith or lack of it. However, we ask for applicants to appreciate and respect the beliefs of others and have strong moral principles.

For further information about our school, please visit our website at www.becketkeys.org. Please email us at vacancies@becketkeys.org if you would like to discuss this role further. Visits are encouraged, so please email us for details of our forthcoming tours.

Staff of the school benefit from priority admission for their children. Our admissions policy effectively guarantees staff a place in the school for their children. With around 800 applications for our 150 places each year, this is a significant perk! In addition, staff will be provided with a comprehensive induction programme and laptop, childcare vouchers are available, and childcare is available at a neighbouring provision with discounted rates for staff members.
