What the school offers its staff
Be part of Horizons Academy, a brand new, state of the art special school that opened in January 2026 in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. The purpose-built academy supports children and young people from Key Stages 2 to 5 with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), along with autism spectrum conditions (ASC). We are seeking highly motivated and dedicated teachers to join us at this exciting time to be part of our talented and supportive SEND team from September 2026.
The academy is continually growing and will eventually accommodate 160 pupils aged 7 to 19 with class sizes of approximately 8 students. We are looking to appoint teachers to start in September 2026 for KS3 and KS4.
Our vision for Horizons Academy is rooted in our firm belief that every child, regardless of individual need or ability, deserves an education that fosters inclusivity, meaningful engagement, and academic excellence. All of our work is built on forming positive relationships with our young people that help them feel safe, respected and valued. In meeting the wide-ranging specific needs of all learners, our curriculum will be aspirational, including a broad range of experiences but structured in such a way that it is meaningful and can be tailored to the needs of every child. Ultimately, our goal is that every child and young person who learns at Horizons Academy will leave prepared for adulthood and can go on to be whoever they want to be and to achieve more than they could have ever imagined.
