Further details about the role
The successful candidate will be a highly driven, creative and nurturing class teacher able to deliver a creative, practical-focused curriculum to KS3 students from Years 8 and 9. They will be able to provide a calm, structured learning environment in which students can develop self-esteem and self-efficacy and move forward in their learning to maximise their true potential. Daily supportive contact with parents will be essential.
The role will also encompass the role of Pastoral Mentor to a group of students from Years 8 to 10. In addition to morning and afternoon registration sessions, this involves the teaching of two Mentor lessons following the school’s Mentoring Programme. Pastoral Mentors have the overview of each student’s personal and academic progress and monitor their behaviour and well-being, with support from Year Heads, a member of the School Leadership Team and the Attendance and Inclusion Manager.
Students are working towards a range of qualifications when in Key stage 4. These include Functional Skills English and Maths, and ASDAN PSE and Employability. At Corley Academy, Incorporating students’ personal interests and linking learning across subjects is key.
Induction and academy specific training will be provided.

Corley Academy is a secondary special school for students with complex social and communication difficulties, part of Thrive Education Partnership.
