What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an excellent classroom practitioner with the ability to deliver creative and innovative lessons to join our busy Post-16 Department. Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) or the willingness to start working towards Level 3 BSL as soon as practicable upon appointment is essential.

We are looking for a teacher who can set and achieve high expectations for our learners, to plan, prepare, deliver and assess, from a range of curricula including GCSE Maths, GCSE English, Functional Skills Maths and English (from Entry Level 1 - Level 2), Driving Theory, British Sign Language and Preparation for Adulthood sessions incorporating PSHE, RSE and careers education.

Royal School for the Deaf Derby is a unique provider of day and residential placements for deaf children and young people aged 3 - 19. Over a hundred, well-behaved, confident young people are on roll, from 27 different Local Authorities ranging from Westminster to York. A small number stay in residence Monday to Thursday, term time only, with the majority of children and young people living locally and attending as day students.
