Millbrook Primary School is situated in Leegomery, Telford. The school was originally separate junior and infant schools which opened in the late 1970s. In 2005, the schools amalgamated to form Millbrook Primary School and Nursery.

The school occupies an enviable green site which gives superb opportunities for outdoor education. There are currently fourteen classes from Reception to Y6 and an attached nursery.

Background

Millbrook serves a very diverse community. Approximately forty-five per cent of the pupils are entitled to Pupil Premium and pupil inward mobility is considerably higher than the national average. The school’s intake is diverse with around fifty-five per cent of pupils from ethnic minority backgrounds and fifty percent of pupils speak English as an additional language. The main languages spoken are Urdu, Panjabi and Polish. A number of children arrive every year from abroad with little or no English. The school places great value on the background and heritage of all pupils. As a result, we are building a diverse and supportive learning community with pupils at the heart of everything we do, underpinned by a strong inclusive ethos. Our aim is to raise children’s aspirations and to widen their horizons through a context rich curriculum that gives purpose to their learning, offers a range of experiences, as well as broadening understanding of the local, British and global community.

There are currently 450 pupils on role in fourteen classes plus nursery. At the last Ofsted inspection in May 2014, the school was graded ‘Good’ in all areas. It was noted that “high priority is given to supporting and training staff in order to improve the quality of teaching and raising pupils’ achievement. This has been very successful.” In May 2018, the school received a short inspection which confirmed its status as good. “There is a sense of optimistic purpose about the school, which is evident in the calm excitement generated in lessons, pupils’ orderly conduct and the friendly, relaxed, yet focused, manner of staff and pupils.”
